Tours are excited to organize individual day tours and activities in and around the Jaco area. Some of these tours may require a bit of a drive to get to, but as our tour descriptions indicate below, tour destination fees are identified; some include transportation from our hotel.

All of the adventure tours offered via Wild Fish Costa Rica are designed with your safety in mind. For the adventuresome spirit in good physical shape any one of the following will provide a thrilling adventure: zip lines, ATV bikes, rafting, rappelling, hang gliding, jet skis, sailing, surfing, sail fishing, kayaking, horse-back riding, and scuba diving. For less strenuous or demanding activities, adventure tours such as hiking, fishing, and golf will provide memorable experiences in Costa Rica.

Manuel Antonio National Park

Manuel Antonio National Park is considered one of the most beautiful parks in Costa Rica. On this adventure tour, you will visit beaches as beautiful as one imagines with clear water and coral reefs, bordered by exuberant vegetation and the natural wonders of the tropical rainforest. Its beaches are counted among the best beached of Costa Rica. On the way to Manuel Antonio National Park from our hotel in Jaco, you will travel along the Pacific coastline enjoying scenic views and crossing plantations of African palms. You’ll also travel past small villages along the Pacific Coast, until you reach the port of Quepos and the National Park.

Once in the park, you can simply relax and enjoy the beach, sunbathe or hike through the park’s trails, which will allow you to observe Manuel Antonio’s abundant flora and fauna. Several species of monkeys, iguanas, birds and possibly even the three-toed sloth can be seen. A qualified bilingual naturalist guide equipped with a mobile telescope will accompany you from the hotel in Jaco. If you chose to take the trail to Cathedral Point, do not forget your camera; the views of the park and the sea are simply the most spectacular of Costa Rica!

Finally, enjoy the perfect sunset on a scenic drive back to our hotel in Jaco.

Carara National Park

The park is uniquely situated between Amazonian and Mesoamerican habitats in a transition zone of Costa Rica which harbor’s distinct flora and fauna from each respective habitat. It is truly a special place in Costa Rica that you can see in one of our tours.

The park’s name, loaned from the Huetar natives, means crocodile. Anyone who visits will understand the significance of the name as the Tarcoles River (Rio Tarcoles), which forms the northern boundary to the park, is inhabited by crocodiles almost year round.

On this tour you are likely to see other wildlife which includes white-face capuchin monkeys and scarlet macaws, which migrate daily from the interior of the dense forest canopy of Jaco to the mangroves near the mouth of the Tarcoles nearby Jaco beach where they tend to perch.

If the colourful streaks in the sky left by the macaws aren’t alluring enough, birders will enjoy toucans, parrots, aracaris, kingfishers and herons, which flourish in the coastal mangroves. Other animals found inside the park include peccaries, anteaters and poison-arrow frogs that hop tentatively around the moist forest floor.

Carara National Park is located just 9.3 miles (15 km) north of out hotel in Jacó. Several miles of hiking trails are open for visitors. Early morning is the best time to see the wealth of birds living in the park, especially scarlet macaws.

There are two hiking trails in Carara National Park as tour Book Here. The 2.7 mile Araceas Nature Trail that begins at the ranger station parallels the Río Grande de Tárcoles and has short branches to the Laguna Meandrica and marshes. There is also a shorter trail.

Jungle River Cruise

Famous for its large American Crocodiles, the Tárcoles River nearby Jaco beach forms the Northern border of Carara Biological Reserve on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica.

On this tour that our hotel in Jaco offers, you will see that the Tárcoles is full of Crocodiles, Scarlet Macaws, Jesus Christ Lizards, and over 120 species of birds. But everyone comes to see the huge crocodiles – so big they have names like “Saddam Hussein” and “Mike Tyson!” You will board a custom-built, flat-bottom river boat at a private botanic garden.

Then you glide along this placid river with a naturalist guide, who describes the birds, animals, and habitat of this place in Costa Rica in great detail. After enjoying fresh fruit and refreshments, return upstream to the native botanical garden, where the guide explains more about the native plant species of this transitional zone habitat of Jacó. This tour is followed by lunch at a funky, but good local restaurant.

Surfing

Our Team at Wild Fish Costa Rica can organize surfing lessons at any of the several beaches at Jaco for surfers of all levels – from beginners to advanced.

Jacó beach is ideal for beginners and Playa Hermosa (a 5 minute drive from our hotel in Jacó) is more suited for the experienced surfers. Our Costa Rica Surf School instructors From Suferfactory knows the area and the waters well; they know when the surf is going to be good and where to be when it happens. The guides will find you a spot to surf in Jacó Beach that is ideal to your surfing ability.

White Water Rafting

Savegre River 

A journey of unsurpassed beauty, jungle vegetation, and exploding white water.

For the adventuresome beginner and experienced rafter the class III rapids of Costa Rica will have you filled with adrenaline as you paddle hard over the waves.

About an hour and a half from Jaco Beach you will be astounded by the awesome canyons, waterfalls, and primary rainforest of Costa Rica. The Savegre river in Quepos, Manuel Antonio is a magnificent stretch of white water that begins its course by winding out of a sparsely inhabited valley of Costa RIca’s central Pacific coastal mountains.

At the lower Savegre the white water rapids are exciting, but not so demanding that you won’t have time to enjoy the Savegre’s spectacular tropical scenery. This is one of the most pristine rivers in Costa Rica and is surrounded by impressive views of the primary rainforest. Lurking just behind the shroud of lush foliage, you will find a number of truly magnificent waterfalls of the Savegre’s tributaries.

This 3/4 day river rafting tour includes a visit to a spectacular waterfall where you will have the opportunity to explore the natural swimming pools in the area surrounded by blooming Heliconias.

The Savegre River white-water rafting tour runs all year round and includes professional, certified, bilingual guides, all the professional gear required for the activity which is U.S. Coast Guard approved, as well as breakfast, fruits, snacks and full lunch.

Sea Kayaking

This is a great tri-fun for the whole family visiting Jacó beaches. You can either paddle out on an 8-person outrigger canoe or in single or double kayaks. You will paddle to an island off nearby Jacó beach where you will be able to snorkel (weather permitting). They provide bottled water and fresh fruit. This adventure tour can be arranged for either morning or afternoon and initiate from Jaco Beach.

Tortuga Island is famous for its romantic day cruises to its exotic Pacific beaches. Definitely, no visit to Costa Rica is complete without a trip to Tortuga Island.

Your day begins at 7.15 from our hotel in Jacó where you will be greeted by a bilingual guide and seated on an air-conditioned bus. The bus ride takes you from Jaco to the Pacific port of Puntarenas, stopping along the way for a typical Costa Rican breakfast. In Puntarenas you will board a luxurious yacht for this Tortuga Island adventure tour. Tortuga Island (Turtle Island) is famous for white sandy beaches and clear water loaded with tropical fish. The super catamaran, Manta Raya, features an underwater viewing window, fresh water showers and a full Costa Rican bar.

The spacious air-conditioned main salon combines with an expansive deck area which includes two Jacuzzi pools. Once underway the Manta Raya will cruise past the lush mangroves, canneries and stilt houses of Puntarenas, Costa Rica. As she makes her way to the Gulf of Nicoya her crew pampers guests with fresh tropical fruits and drinks. On the route to Tortuga Island, the catamaran will pass the islands of San Lucas, Gypsy, Sugar Loaf, Guayabo, Jesusita, Cedros and Negritos.

Tortuga Island is known for its immaculate white sand beaches and turquoise waters, a perfect stop for swimming, snorkeling and their delicious, gourmet lunch. Sip cold wine in the shade of white umbrellas at tables covered with white linens and be served the midday feast. The Vista Los Sueños Canopy

The Vista Los Sueños Canopy is a Project designed not only as one of the most extreme adventure tours, but a way to enjoy nature without harming the environment of Costa Rica.The property boasts spectacular views of the Herradura bay and Island, as well as the Nicoya Gulf. Our hotel in Jaco offers you the opportunity to view the Scarlet Macaws, Chest nut mandible Toucans and white-face monkeys typical from Costa Rica.

The property rests on 80 acres of land… 50% of which is primary forest, where the canopy is located! The adventure starts on a 15 minute ride from our hotel in Jacó aboard our specially designed 40 passenger tractor which takes you to the top of a mountain. You then descend to the bottom via a series of zip lines, including 15 platforms and 14 cables with a total cable distance of 3.5 kilometers… including the longest cable in the area 2400 feet. Horseback Tour to Bijagual Waterfalls

This adventure tour is via horseback and not for the faint of heights.The Bijagual Waterfalls plummet from high cliffs deep within the jungle of Jaco. It’s tumbling waters unlock the area’s secrets to those adventures willing to accept the challenge of discovery.

Climbing the small mountain range between Carara National Park and the Protected Zone of Turrubares, the road to the Bijagual is a rewarding experience, alternating between breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the coastal fishing villages and dramatically changing vegetation of Jaco.

Early risers assisted by expert naturalist guides will observe the abundant wildlife, which is easy to spot in the many canyons crossed by the winding road. After this scenic drive, visitors continue on horseback providing up-close access to this magical place.

The jungle trail leads visitors to within a few hundred yards from where the roaring sound of the waterfalls blends in with the calls of Toucans and Red Macaws. Explorers will experience the pleasure of nature with a plunge in the pristine pools at the base of the waterfalls. This adventure tour includes challenging hikes; you must be in good physical condition.

Rain Forest Aerial Tram – Central Pacific

A cascading 40-foot waterfall, giant rainforest trees and panoramic views of the ocean are all part of one the more less demanding but no less exciting adventure tours: a ride on the Pacific Rain Forest Aerial Tram. Each open-air gondola protects from the sun with canvas awnings, seats eight passengers and includes a local naturalist guide.

The rugged topography of our forest means the modified ski-lift skims the forest floor, and then soars to a maximum height of 130 feet above a rugged valley. The 210-acre private reserve is a transitional area between the drier climate of the northwest and the more humid climate of the southern coast.

This tour visit to the Rain Forest Aerial Tram includes the hour-long tram ride accompanied by a bilingual naturalist guide (English-Spanish) and a 45-minute guided nature walk. PJ Tours can arrange a combination of this tour with a canopy tour.

ATV Tour

ATV tours are an exciting and fun way to see Jaco, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Tours has designed this to be an enjoyable and challenging outdoor adventure into the rainforest nearby Jaco beach. We’ll climb past several great look-out points with views of Costa Rica’s most popular beaches and their surroundings. Next, we’ll wind down rainforest trails as we descend towards the world-famous surfing Jaco beach, Playa Hermosa, before returning to Jaco Beach.

Jardin Pura Vida, Botanical Gardens

About 45 minutes from our hotel in Jacó, up at the top of a beautiful mountain, sits 40 acres of well manicured botanical gardens and wild birds (you can even feed the Toucans!) At Jardin Pura Vida you meander along paved walkways planted with over 1,000,000 flowering plants, see Costa Rica’s tallest waterfall and take in the spectacular views of the Pacific ocean and surrounding mountains. You are sure to see the vibrant flora and fauna including Scarlet Macaws and Toucans; there is also a family of White Faced Monkeys that live in the area.

Deep Sea Fishing

The central Pacific coast near our hotel in Jaco offers some of the best sport fishing in Costa Rica. Marlin are caught throughout the year, predominantly between the months of January through September. Sailfish run between 80 to 200 lbs, you can expect to see many free jumpers and excessive amounts of sailfish during the months of December through May.

Other fish caught in the area include Dorado, Wahoo, roosterfish and snapper. We can customize a deep sea fishing adventure tour for you based on the size of your group and your budget. This is one thrilling adventure tour!
