Flamingo Sport Fishing

Fishing Flamingo Costa Rica for Big Billfish and Tuna

Fishing from Flamingo, the center of fishing on Costa Rica’s Gold Coast, starts only twenty minutes from the new international airport in Liberia in the northwest part of Costa Rica.

When you go sportfishing from Flamingo, Costa Rica, you can get in on the action anywhere from to the north (Bat Islands) to the south (as far as the Nicoya coast) and straight out to sea in a beeline toward Japan. It just depends on where the billfish happen to be on the day you pop offshore in one of the many boats working this part of the Gold Coast.

Take a look at the Best Costa Rica Fishing Seasons Anglers’ Calendar for information on the top times for saltwater sportfishing in Guanacaste, whether you stay here or in another coastal town.

Boats based in Playa Coco also work this area, and some will pick you up as far south as Tamarindo. Some travel up from the central Pacific side in April. Others are based here full-time

Marlin and Sailfish
This is one of the top places in the tropics for marlin and sailfish. And you can also catch big tuna, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and dorado, all of which make for a great meal back at your hotel or resort. Catch and release is practiced for billfish by all local boats, but you can count on some videos and pictures to take back as trophies.
