Fishing at Playa Coco

Sailfish and marlin fishing from Playa Coco, Costa Rica, where Christmas kicks off the high season in December, rules Costa Rica fishing through April. But you can still catch ’em every month of the year. And Playa Coco is centrally located for fast access to the best sportfishing grounds in every direction (except inland, of course!)

There is no dock here, so you will ride a panga, skiff or other small craft from the shoreline to your boat. It is about a one hour run out to where the big schools are found, maybe longer if you cruise south toward Nicoya. Add on another hour if headed for the Bat Islands.

There is plenty to do on days when you are not out on the water. Several national parks are close enough for day trips. All sorts of tropical tours are both convenient and easily arranged. The area also features some of the finest scuba diving in this solar system, perhaps even in the entire galaxy.

This once comatose fishing village is now a lively town after dark, with numerous places to hang out and party. Dining options include Italian and other international cuisines.
